Join hosts Amanda Goodwin, LCSW, and Glenn Hofferber, LPC, for an enlightening discussion dedicated to exploring the complex world of men’s mental health.
This engaging presentation will tackle the pressing issues faced by men in today’s society, where the expectations to be perpetual “human-doings” often hinder their mental and emotional well-being.
We will discuss critical topics such as the prevalence of depression and addiction among men, probing into how these conditions are exacerbated by societal norms that discourage emotional openness. The discussion will extend to understanding how men are conditioned to suppress their emotions from a young age, which often leads to severe implications for their ability to cope with stress, trauma, and the everyday demands of life.
We will explore barriers that men face in seeking treatment, including the deep-seated core beliefs that define masculinity and the stigmatization surrounding mental health issues. We will also address how trauma impacts men’s views of the world and themselves, influencing their interactions and relationships.
Further, we will shed light on men’s roles within relationships, examining how biological and social differences in communication, conflict resolution, and emotional expression can shape their personal and professional lives.
Our clinicians will aim to equip participants with the tools to challenge these traditional roles and encourage men to embrace vulnerability as a form of strength.
By the end of the session, attendees will be equipped with the tools to challenge traditional roles, gain a deeper understanding of the transformative power of embracing vulnerability in reshaping men’s mental health and fostering healthier, more fulfilling lives.
